Pseudotropheus sp."perspicax puulu" is living in rocky environments in the northern part of the lake, along the coast of Tanzania in the neighborhood of Puulu Island. The males can behave intolerant against equal species and all other inhabitants in the aquarium. You can best keep this species with multiple females and other mbunas in an aquarium with a lot of hiding places. The Perspicax Cichlid comes from Ndumbi and Pombo Reef in Lake Malawi, Africa. Males are larger than females and grow to around 10cm. They attain a purple/blue color with an orange blaze while females, which only grow to 7-8cm, remain brown with some having a slight purple sheen.
