Hojomaylandi mbuna

Metriaclima hojomaylandi lives in colonies near the bottom of the lake. They are organised around a well established hierarchy in the group. They are herbivorous and planctophage. They like to dig into the sand and transform their surrounding area. They are very territorial and do not tolerate intrusion in their living area. They are aggressive to similar looking fish and dominant males cannot stand each other. Battles can be violent and even result in severe injuries or even death.
